Ivan Paulino is an Edmonton-based digital artist who makes his designs using a digital illustration app called “Procreate”, and is the creative mind behind Art.De.Sept. His objective is to sell prints, make logos, provide visuals for magazines or websites, and design book covers, posters, greeting cards, or flyers.

An ultimate goal of Ivan is to provide designs and visuals for businesses to help them stand out and tell their stories in ways that are unique and stimulating, so that they can attract and retain their ideal audience.

What makes Art.De.Sept unique is Ivan’s signature “construction paper craft” style.  It means that his illustrations are intended to look like construction paper cut-outs placed or glued on top of each other, which gives off a 3D feel and gives viewers the impression that the artwork was hand-made when it’s, in fact, just a drawing.

The theme that Ivan usually incorporates into his work is “vibrant but edgy”. As an individual artist, he draws inspiration from strong (but often negative) emotions such as fear, sadness, anxiety, or anger, and uses vibrant colors to contrast them. The intention behind this is to remind people (himself included) that these negative emotions are an integral part of life, and that there is beauty in chaos. Ivan also has a keen interest in showcasing different types of people, culture, and lifestyle through his art.
